New Delhi [India], May 29 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tarun Chugh on Thursday hit out at the Congress party over remarks made by its leader Bhupesh Baghel in reference to terrorism, labelling it as 'mental bankruptcy'. He said that this was the party that failed to act against Pakistan despite the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
Chugh further accused Congress of engaging in 'politics of lies' on issues like terrorism, which he said was harmful to the country's national security.
'This is the same Congress that didn't teach Pakistan a lesson even after the 26/11 (Mumbai terror) attacks. They didn't do anything during their tenure but are now engaging in politics of lies on such sensitive topics. This mentality of the Congress causes harm to the country's national security...This statement by the Congress is mental bankruptcy,' Chugh, also the National General Secretary of the BJP, told ANI.
He lashed out at former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, stating that his statement was proof of a 'shameless anti-national mentality.'
'Will the Congress view a sensitive issue like terrorism from the lens of 'loss and gain'? Have people from Italy given these instructions? Bhupesh Baghel's statement is proof of shameless anti-national mentality. Why couldn't you stop Naxalism and terrorism?... We have acted against all forms of terrorism with a zero-tolerance policy,' the BJP leader added.
Meanwhile, Telangana BJP leader N Ramachander Rao objected to Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel's statement calling the Congress party a bigger victim of terrorism. Rao called the former Chhattisgarh CM's statement 'foolish'.
Talking to ANI, the BJP leader said, 'Statement of former Chhattisgarh CM Baghel is surprising and it is his foolishness to say Congress is a bigger loser and affected during terror strikes and Naxalite attacks. He is forgetting that not only Congress but the nation has suffered due to terrorism, Naxalites and ultra-groups' activities.'
This comes after Baghel said that if someone has suffered the heaviest loss due to terrorism, it is Congress, while the BJP has gained from it.
Commenting on Congress leader Udit Raj's attack against MP Shashi Tharoor, N Ramachander Rao said, 'The Congress leaders seem to be frustrated because of the support India is getting due to the all-party delegations going to various countries and explaining Operation Sindoor and India's stand on terrorism.'
