(Xinhua/Liu Lei)ANTALYA, Trkiye, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Trkiye's Antalya region, once the center of the ancient kingdom of Pamphylia, is home to some of the best-preserved archaeological sites in the Mediterranean, offering a glimpse into centuries-old civilizations.Just an hour from the modern city, visitors can explore historic landmarks such as Aspendos and Perge, remnants of a thriving Roman past.Aspendos features one of the world's best-preserved Roman theaters, an architectural marvel built in 155 CE under Emperor Marcus Aurelius. With its soaring stone arches and 15,000-seat capacity, the structure remains largely intact and continues to captivate visitors.Nearby, the ruins of Perge reveal a once-bustling Roman city. Wide colonnaded streets, the towering Hellenistic Gate, and remnants of an ancient marketplace offer insight into daily life in antiquity. The site's flat terrain makes for easy exploration, while intricate mosaics and a monumental nymphaeum stand as testaments to its former grandeur.
