Three new direct air routes linking Bulgaria with Greece and Hungary have been officially launched as part of WizzAir's expanded summer flight program covering dozens of destinations across Europe.

The additions include connections from Sofia to Corfu, as well as from Burgas and Varna to Budapest. The Sofia-Corfu and Burgas-Budapest routes began operating on June 7, followed by the Varna-Budapest service on June 8. The expansion is integrated into a broader seasonal network that now spans 70 routes across 20 countries, with tickets available online and via WizzAir's mobile application starting from 29.99 euros.

Corfu, located in the Ionian Sea, remains one of Greece's most visited islands, known for its clear waters, beaches, and Venetian architectural heritage. The destination combines natural scenery with cultural landmarks, including the UNESCO-listed Old Town with its narrow streets and historic buildings. Key attractions include Paleokastritsa's coastal landscapes and the Achilleion palace, historically associated with Empress Elisabeth of Austria. The island's Church of St. Spyridon, often referred to locally as the ?Church of Wishes,? is also highlighted as a notable religious and cultural site.

Budapest, often described as the ?Pearl of the Danube,? continues to be promoted as a major European tourism hub. Its landmarks include the Hungarian Parliament building overlooking the river and the Fisherman's Bastion, which offers panoramic views of both Buda and Pest. The city's Danube riverside memorial, the ?Shoes on the Danube Bank,? remains one of its most symbolic historical sites.

He also pointed to operational planning and fuel management measures as key factors supporting the summer schedule, adding that passengers can expect stable service during peak demand. The airline stressed continued focus on reliability and passenger experience throughout the travel season.

Since beginning operations in Bulgaria, the carrier reports transporting more than 34 million passengers to and from the country, including over 25 million from Sofia, nearly 6 million from Varna, and close to 3 million from Burgas. With the latest expansion, an additional aircraft has been assigned to the Sofia base, alongside another added to operations in Varna.

Capacity has also been significantly increased for 2026, with over 3.4 million seats planned from Sofia, 1.2 million from Varna, and 266,000 from Burgas, reflecting double-digit percentage growth across all three bases compared with the previous year.

The airline also noted that around 70 percent of its required jet fuel for the season has been secured in advance, part of its broader operational strategy aimed at maintaining stability during periods of fluctuating market conditions.
