COTABATO CITY, Feb. 17 (PIA) -The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has recently received the first portion of its 2020 budget under the block grant amounting to P5.3 billion from the national government.
This was announced by BARMM Assistant Executive Secretary Abdullah Cusain in a recent press conference here. Cusain told reporters that the said budget will be used for the region's project, programs, and salaries of its workforce.
"The block grant is the source of the appropriation and budget for the Bangsamoro government beginning this year and the appropriation budget for January is already in the Bangsamoro Treasury Office," he said.
Based on Article XII, Section 15 of the Republic Act 11054 or the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), the "National Government shall provide an annual block grant which will be the share of the Bangsamoro government in the national revenue tax collections of the Bureau of Internal Revenue and collections of the Bureau of Customs."
Pursuant to the BOL, BARMM government has a total allocation of P63.6 billion block grant for the year 2020.
Meanwhile, Cusain said offices and ministries of the Bangsamoro government are required to comply with several documents that include Budget Execution Documents to the BARMM's Ministry of Finance and Budget and Management (MFBM-BARMM) to ensure that the 'moral governance' principle is being executed in spending the grant.
