Capello furious over Terry sacking as skipper
Greek Herald (ANI) Saturday 4th February, 2012
Fabio Capello's relationship with his Football Association bosses is in chaos after John Terry was stripped of the England captaincy.
Capello fought for the Chelsea defender to remain as skipper until the bitter end and only accepted the FA's decision with extreme reluctance.
The England manager even pored over the details of his contract to check whether he had the right to veto the FA's move.
FA chairman David Bernstein informed Terry of the decision of the FA Board in a telephone call on Friday.
erry is now believed to be considering announcing his retirement from international football.
The 31-year-old is due to stand trial in July over racial abuse allegations after an incident with QPR's Anton Ferdinand during a match last October.
The Chelsea skipper has protested his innocence, but in a statement, the FA said Terry would not "captain the England team until the allegations against him are resolved".
In the end, Capello had to accept that he was powerless to intervene, but he is still deeply unhappy about the situation. (ANI)
